Hawkesbury River Rescue (formally known as Bar Point Rescue Base) is located at Peat Island, on the Hawkesbury
River,
at Mooney Mooney, to the north of Sydney.![]() Peat Island Hospital has been gracious enough to allow us to cohabitat near the gardening section of its grounds. Our volunteers have worked hard, with the result that we now occupy one of the best rescue stations of the Hawkesbury River and environs. We have a base fully equipped with radios, TV, computer, 2 fridges, a fully operational kitchen, air conditioning, conference table and chairs, beds (for overnight stays), toilet, shower, and BBQ facilities. In the summer one can enjoy the new outdoor balcony. Hawkesbury River Rescue is associated with the Volunteer Rescue Association of NSW, and accredited by the State Rescue Board of NSW. Volunteer operators monitor 27Mhz, VHF and HF marine radio frequencies 7 days a week. Our rescue vessel, Spirit of Brooklyn, is active most days on the river assisting people. Please take the time to note our sponsors and advertisers who help keep Hawkesbury River Rescue Base on-air. |
